What Does a Video Essayist Do?
An Introduction to Videographic Film Criticism: A 90 min online workshop by Philip Józef Brubaker.
Do you have opinions about movies today? Want to make a film, but don’t know how to start?
This remote workshop will introduce eager filmmakers to the ins and outs of being a video essayist, the most accessible way to being a professional filmmaker in today’s media-literate hyperspace.
Philip will guide students from zero to hero so that they will feel like they are finally realizing their dreams of being the next Tarantino, Kubrick or whomever they admire. Stop daydreaming about being a filmmaker and start making those dreams happen for yourself, and everyone on the Internet.
For videographic film criticism (video essays) is essentially an Internet art forum; we gather the tools we need online and we share the finished product online as well. There is a large community on the Internet who are hungry to watch your video essays.
We will go over where to find high quality free music, movie clips more.
We will cover different 3 types of video essays: explanatory, poetic, experimental. Philip will provide students with essential information one where to find free movie clips online, what software to use to download them and how to edit what you download. Philip is also an 18 year veteran of YouTube, with currently more than 1,000 subscribers to his channel: @bolddecade.
